Session 1
Retirement Investing & Personal Finance: Practical Tips for Freelancers (Part 1)
Speaker: Randal Gernaat
Planning for retirement can be especially challenging for freelancers and independent contractors. In the first installment of this two-part series, Randal Gernaat will provide a practical introduction to retirement investing, discuss common strategies and best practices, and help attendees develop greater confidence in planning for their financial future.
Randal brings more than 30 years of experience in New York's financial industry, including roles at Bloomberg. He currently works as a German-to-English economics and financial translator and serves as Treasurer of the New York Circle of Translators.

Session 2
Natural Networking for Freelancers: How Opportunities Find You
Speaker: Anthony Alencar
Networking is not about collecting business cards or adding contacts on LinkedIn. It is about building familiarity, trust, and genuine professional relationships over time.
Drawing from decades of experience in translation, interpreting, localization, and business development, Anthony Alencar will explore how freelancers can position themselves naturally within their professional communities, create meaningful connections, and increase opportunities without relying on aggressive self-promotion. He currently serves as Program Director of the New York Circle of Translators.
